Netflix vs. Blockbuster Online
Right now I have a subscription to Blockbuster Online. For $11.99/month I get unlimited one-at-a-time rentals, as well as two in-store exchanges. Those in-store rentals are really what keep me using their service. I can walk into any location (the closest is less than a mile away), hand them a DVD in its return envelope, and walk out with a free rental. Even better, they then ship me the next...

Jeanine and I always thank each other when offered the “better” seat at a restaurant.

Turkey Day
It’s hard to believe there’s less than a week now until Thanksgiving. This year’s holiday will be the first in three years where I won’t have to think about what I am able to eat. I know I post about my health a lot, but how can I not be excited when the day’s main activity is eating?!
I plan to stuff my fucking ass off at the Geisler’s on Thursday and again...

Dear Apple:
Thank you for making your mp3-playing, video-displaying, internet-browsing cell phone easier to operate than the speed-dial setup on our office fax machine.
I consider myself pretty technology-literate and yet I still had to get the fucking manual out.

Say Goodbye to BlackBerry? If Obama Has to, Yes He... →
neuski:
For all the perquisites and power afforded the president, the chief executive of the United States is essentially deprived by law and by culture of some of the very tools that other chief executives depend on to survive and to thrive. Mr. Obama, however, seems intent on pulling the office at least partly into the 21st century on that score; aides said he hopes to have a laptop computer on...
Apple Genius Bar
Recently Jeanine had been having issues with her Powerbook’s battery not holding a charge. After completely charging it, the battery status would show it’s percentage slowly drop from 100% until about 60%. At this point the laptop would shut down and she needed to plug in the AC adapter in order to start it up again. I read up on Apple’s discussion boards and found what numbers...
I no longer enjoy phone numbers that include words (e.g. 216-420-HITS).
My Blackberry does not print the standard keypad on it’s number keys. This forces me to either (a) look up an image of a keypad online or (b) guess.

Inquisitor
If you use Safari for Mac, you need to check out Inquisitor. I’ve been using it for a couple years now and it keeps getting better with each release. Having Google search right in the address bar area is nice, but this program allows you to jump straight to other sites. It also brings up results of completed search strings and possible sites as well.
I see they also have betas for...

Ouch
I bit the middle of my tongue so hard during lunch that I actually punctured the skin. A small flap of tongue now exists that I can feel sticking up every time I close my mouth. I debated posting a picture of it, but decided that I’ve probably posted enough gross pictures of holes in my body for a while :o/
UC side-effect #12
One of the indirect side-effects of Ulcerative Colitis is living life in the passenger seat (for lack of a better cliché). The constant fatigue and lack of desire to plan for anything more than a few days away makes it very easy to accept a bystander role in life. I realized tonight just how strong this side-effect is, meaning that it really becomes engrained in your thought process.

Credit perks
CapitalOne just called and offered me a bunch of options to “upgrade” my card. Because I pay the balance each month, the lower APR wasn’t of much interest. I don’t use points or miles and already have their highest cash-back level too. So to still give me some sort of “upgrade” they offered to increase my cash-back plan an additional 1% for the next three...
