Marathon Game
junior02157: I am surprised at how much more advertising is in the park since I last went to a game.  We actually have more than a one or two billboards on the outfield walls, unlike the first decade of the park.  Nothing seems over-the-top gawdy, and it is starting to look like other ballparks around the league. . It may be the way most ballparks are going, but the Walgreens sign on the...

I have 4 tickets to the Indians game tomorrow...
My 5 buddies who were supposedly collectively in for all 6 games I have this season all did the following: Backed out a week ago when I brought the game up because tomorrow night is the 100th episode of “Lost.”  I even offered to record it and save it to DVD for him. Declined the offer because he runs a softball team that plays on Wednesday nights. Said he was in, only to back out...

alexs: draegs: (via alexs) . Buddy you make think that now and I can relate, for I was there myself a few years ago.  But, the feeling of paying off a credit card balance or pulling out an ATM receipt to see a larger-than-expected amount in your checking account produces an emotion that far surpasses anything that can be gained by carelessly spending your money. Yeah, you’re definitely...

I wrote into “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” and suggested they check out The Melt Bar & Grill here in Lakewood: “I think you should check out a place called The Melt Bar & Grill in Lakewood, Ohio (just outside Cleveland).  This place specializes in grilled cheeses and good beer.  They serve all sorts of sandwiches from a plain old cheese sandwich (the...

1 Billion Apps Sold (part 2)
Rereading my last post, I noticed that it took a very generic, pro-Apple bias toward the end.  This wasn’t my original intention with the post and I want to clarify where I was trying to go with it. The success of the App Store has interested me in the way it has been achieved.  Apple took a service it originally shunned, plugged it into their already successful, working model and was able...

1 Billion Apps Sold
So Apple announced its 1 billionth iPhone/iPod Touch application was downloaded today.  Almost as impressive is the rate at which they’re now being distributed—5.55 million per day.  It’s no wonder that RIM recently opened it’s own App World to compete. This is particularly fascinating when you look back at how Apple first approached the idea of third-party programs....

Does it bother anyone else that the MLB has yet to do anything about maple bats and their tendency to shatter?  It seems like there’s at least one broken bat every inning during your average game nowadays.  Players, coaches, fans, and now even umpires have been injured by flying wood.  Is it going to take someone being killed before the player’s union is willing to budge on allowing...

Wiiiiiiiings!
Feeling a bit rundown after lunch (side effect of working a full 8-4:30 day yesterday), I decided to have some of the RedBull that’s been sitting unopened on my desk.  I’m not even half-way through the can and my fingers are already twitching.  This is what happens when you drink hardly any caffeine for 6 weeks >:-O

bethneu: We’re going to Cracker Barrel for breakfast/lunch/dinner. We might pick up Dolly Parton’s new album Backwoods Barbie. Who knows what we will find there. Probably just pancakes. . Cracker Barrel is the boooomb.  The only place I know of that gives you THREE sides with most dishes.

fmylife: Today, I took the bus to work and a sweet old lady got on after me and sat next to me. Halfway to work, she fell asleep and her head was on my shoulder. Trying to be nice, I gently tried to wake her up before my stop came. She wasn’t sleeping. I let a dead woman lie on me for 30 minutes. FML

I just paid $9.99 for an iPhone/iPod app
After hearing lots of praise about it, I purchased that MLB.com At Bat 2009 app for $9.99.  At first I had a lot of issue with dropping that much for an app, but it really is worth the price. The app gives you live stats via a Gameday type interface, box scores and recaps, video highlights, and even streaming audio from either team’s station.  What I like is how well thought out the...
